LAFAYETTE, Colo., October 21, 2008 - Aegis held its 2008 Customer Event, Sep. 30th – Oct. 2nd in Boulder, CO at the St. Julien Hotel & Spa. The conference, sponsored by integration partners IBM, Digital Applications International Limited (DAI) and Entegreat, brought together executives from several of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations including Abbott, Biogen Idec, Bristol Myers Squibb, Eli Lilly, Genzyme and others.

The event kicked-off with a golf clinic, featuring Mike Bennett and PGA touring professional Brian Henninger who teach the Stack & Tilt swing method (as seen in Golf Digest) followed by a golf tourney at the Boulder Country Club. Attendees were offered the opportunity to network with peers, participate in advanced user training on Discoverant software, provide input into future product enhancements, and receive a preview of the v3.3 winter release of Discoverant.

The General Session featured Stephen Little, author of “The Milkshake Moment” who spoke of the seven areas that organizational leaders need to follow to create sustainable, profitable growth.

The 2008 agenda also included several customer presentations that highlighted the Discoverant purchasing and implementation processes and a customer-moderated panel focused on ROI, payback and the use of Discoverant to leverage prior investments in MES and data historians. Existing users shared various statistics around reductions in process variablity, batch failure and time spent gathering data and generating reports, including Annual Product Reviews.

Other key areas of discussion throughout the conference included:

  • Industry-specific use cases and problem-solving techniques designed to decrease time and resources of investigating the root-cause of a failed batch
  • Improvements to tracking and reporting of batch genealogies to ensure complete traceablity
  • Best practices for understanding the relationship between downstream process output(s) and upstream process conditions
  • Closed-loop processes designed for integrating paper-based data with electronic data, to allow for complete and accurate analysis
  • Steps for bridging the information/data-sharing gap between multi-global sites to gain manufacturing process intelligence
  • Design considerations for a biological Process Development implementation, reinforcing the importance of a seamless tech transfer

With increased attendance from both functional and technical users, Aegis also introduced session tracks specifically designed around the attendees’ role. Developing role-based content allowed Aegis to improve the relevance of the subject matter and cover a broader range of material.
