Discover 2011 Conference Wrap Up

As the Aegis customer base grows each year, the DISCOVER conference provides greater opportunities for identifying industry trends, sharing best practices for process understanding and networking. Discussions this year related to quality initiatives and the need for collaboration across global manufacturing networks, which are supported by our Discoverant solution that enables a deeper understanding of each process and product.
Attendees learned from Discoverant customer presentations, panel and roundtable discussions and Aegis-led user training sessions. Attendees heard from Aegis experts and from one another about new ways to leverage Aegis' Discoverant software in manufacturing and beyond, such as in Quality, Process Development and contract manufacturing.
Ajaz Hussain, Ph.D., former FDA Deputy Director of the Office of Pharmaceutical Science (OPS), delivered the opening keynote, and Blair Okita, Ph.D., president of BioPCS Consulting and former senior vice president of quality and technical operations at Genzyme Corp., delivered the closing keynote. Both speakers identified approaches to better process understanding and sustainable manufacturing.
Aegis presented two customers with Process Intelligence awards - Biogen Idec in the Manufacturing category and Merck Serono in the Process Development category. Both companies have leveraged Discoverant's unique data aggregation and contextualization capabilities to build cultures that support data sharing and collaboration and strive for process understanding.
